March 26. On this date in 1853, a group of five Bábís
assassinated
the Governor of Nayríz, resulting in violent retaliation against the
Bábí community. Five days previously, Bahá'u'lláh and companions had
entered Iraq subsequent to their exile after the unsuccessful
assassination attempt a of the
Naser al-Din Shah Qajar.
