August 4. On this date in 1943, Shoghi Effendi addressed a letter to an individual believer stated that "A marriage between two souls, alive to the Message of God in this day, dedicated to the service of His Cause, working for the good of humanity, can be a potent force in the lives of others and an example and inspiration to other Bahá'ís, as well as to non-believers." On May 5, 1957, Shoghi Effendi warned a Bahá'í couple that "if as registered believers you are married in a Christian ceremony, you will lose your voting rights."
