January 16. On this date in 1922 Bahiyyih Khánum sent a cablegram to the Bahá'ís of the United States announcing Shoghi Effendi's appointment as Guardian.
Bahiyyih Khánum was the only daughter of Bahá'u'lláh by his first wife Ásíyih Khánum. She was 'Abdu'l-Bahá's only full sister.
