April 3. On this date in 1867, the United States Consul General's office in Beirut received a petition signed by fifty-three Bahá'ís to the United States Congress to ameliorate the exile of Bahá'u'lláh, who at that time had been in Edirne for four years.





April 3. On this date in 1867, the United States Consul General's office in Beirut received a petition signed by fifty-three Bahá'ís to the United States Congress to ameliorate the exile of Bahá'u'lláh, who at that time had been in Edirne for four years.
Consequently, we agreed to present and describe the situation of that wise man to the Congress of the Republic that perchance God may grant Him relief and deliverance and that you may render help and find a way to bring that oppressed person relief from tyranny and oppression.
