August 4. On this date in 1911, the diary of Juliet Thompson records that 'Abdu'l-Bahá "did not attend the Universal Races' Congress. They had asked Him to speak on philosophy and to make no reference to religion, so He sent a representative, Tamaddunu'l-Mulk. (Tamaddunu'l-Mulk is about four feet high and his name means The Civilization of the Country.)"
