On this date in 1949, Shoghi Effendi wrote "The success of the European work is almost startling, and shows that alas, suffering is the plough which seems to best and quickest turn up the soil of men’s spirits and make them fertile. Before the war it is doubtful if such rapid results could have been achieved. All the more reason for our consecrated and feverish labours now!"
