May 11. On this date in 1941, Fuad Afnan, Shoghi Effendi's first cousin who was the son of Muhsin Afnán and Túbá Khánum, died as a result of injuries sustained in an air raid in London where he was volunteering as an Air Raid Warden. The Fuad Muhsin Afnan Memorial Fund for "Bahai students in need" at the American University of Beirut was established in his honor in 1971 by his brother Soheil Afnan.
