January 22. On this date in 1944, Shoghi Effendi finished writing "God Passes By". Published later that year, to coincide with the one-hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of the Báb in 1844, "God Passes By" serves as a historical review by Shoghi Effendi of the first century of the Bahá’í Faith. The book is divided into four periods, covering the ministries of the Báb, Bahá'u'lláh, 'Abdu'l-Bahá, and Shoghi Effendi upto the writing of the book. In "God Passes By" Shoghi Effendi addresses some contentious issues, dedicating chapters to such topics as "The Attempt on the Life of the Sháh and Its Consequences", "The Rebellion of Mírzá Muḥammad-'Alí", and "Attacks on Bahá’í Institutions".
