March 2. On this date in 1953, Shoghi Effendi said "The Moslems are exerting a very great effort in America - allying themselves with the Christians - they are not sincere - but compromise their principles. The building of the Mosque in Washington D.C. is a direct result from our building the Temple. Diplomats and Ambassadors from the East, from Egypt - went back and told their people - if the few Bahá'ís can build such a beautiful Temple - why can't we of the Moslem world do better. They will do everything they can to attract people - but they compromise their principles. Even to the extent of forming ties with the Christians - even with the Catholics, their bitter enemies.."
