On this date in 2007, an article titled "The Bahá'ís of the Caucasus" about the revival of the Bahá'í Faith in Azerbaijan noted "that more than 80% of Baku’s Baha’is are converts, often Shiite Muslims in quest for spirituality at the moment of the break-up of the Soviet Union. The arrival of foreign missionaries, Turkish missionaries especially, facilitated the conversion of certain people, Muslim or Christian by culture, to the Baha’i faith..."
