March 13. On this date in 1953, Shoghi Effendi said "Tibet is the roof of the world...It is very difficult for the Cause there. It has a theocratic government - a government run by monks. It is a stronghold of religious orthodoxy - a stronghold of the Buddhist Faith. It will be difficult to enter there - and doubt if any one can just now. It has been overrun by communists, and is difficult to cross the border. The Soviets are in control there. But it is a very important land."
